O’Hare 5K on the Runway Coming this Fall

One of the unique things that our home town airport Chicago O’Hare does is support local charities and get the community involved. One of the great events they put on is the 5K on the Runway in partnership with the Chicago Department of Aviation. This year all runners, walkers and aviation enthusiasts are again invited to run on a runway at one of the world’s busiest airports! Don’t worry- no one has been hit by an airplane yet!

On Sunday, September 27, O’Hare International Airport will welcome thousands of runners and walkers to race on its newest runway, built as part of the O’Hare Modernization Program. Proceeds from the event will benefit March of Dimes.

You’re invited to see new Runway 10R-28L up close and personal before it opens to air traffic in mid-October. The 5K course will take participants along the new runway on O’Hare’s south airfield, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience during the race and amazing photo opportunities afterward.

This family friendly event will also include a Kids’ Run and Community Day!
